Matthew Ramos,
Full Stack Web Developer

I'm a full-stack web developer with a background in networking and hardware in defense and municipal sectors. Looking to bring my unique experiences and substantial knowledge base to a purpose-driven development team.

Who am I?

Matt Ramos

I'm a proud veteran, brother, dog dad, and leader. I come from an IT background, where I cut my teeth on a system and network administrator role in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Coming home, I found myself working on a number of project-based contracts with partners and clients that include the U.S. Army, Air Force, Secret Service, and the state of Massachusetts.

After nearly a decade working with web-based applications on the hardware and networking side of tech, I realized that I wanted more than just the taste of programming that I got through testing and configuration. This led me to pursue a career in development, and to your screen! Some of the development skills, techniques and tools I've learned so far include:

Javascript | HTML | CSS | JQuery | Sass | AJAX | Ruby on Rails | Amazon Web Services PostgreSQL | Handlebars | Bootstrap | API Development | Git/GitHub | Express | MongoDB | Mongoose | Node.js| Stripe.js | Ember.js

My Projects
Tic Tac Toe
Project 1 - Tic Tac Toe

A front-end project made with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX over a Ruby API, this was my first foray into front-end development!

Project 2 - Playlist Tracker

Originally a simple blogging application, the Playlist Tracker evolved throughout its development. A future version would have had integration with Spotify, though this is now going to be an entirely new project. A full-stack project made with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, Ruby on Rails and Handlebars, this was my first full-stack application!

You Can Cheat If You Want To
Project 4 - You Can Cheat If You Want
Initially intended to be a showcase of websockets and physics, technical hurdles and time constraints resulted in a quick pivot to put out a viable product by a deadline. A simple game rendered using Canvas and Javascript, the rest of the front end is built with HTML, Javascript, AJAX, jQuery, Bootstrap, Handlebars, and CSS. The back end is built with Express and MongoDB.
